Ung Depresjon

An app developed back to back with a systematic review of scientific literature on internet-delivered digital therapies for depression.

A preventative platform, aimed at teaching young people the knowledge they need to survive in a challenging and rapidly evolving world, adapted to the modern end user. The app will offer help to those struggling with depressive symptoms.

Compliance and task completion are rewarded using gamification elements, including in-app currencies that can be spent on in-app benefits and access to real-world rewards.

The evidence

Ung Depresjon is built alongside The Best Practice of Unguided Internet Delivered Therapy, a systematic review of what makes unguided digital therapy for depression work. In plain language: digital tools can help against depressive symptoms without a therapist involved — but only when they are engaging enough that people keep using them, and structured around techniques with real evidence behind them. Those two findings define our product.

How it works

Three things carry the app. Each is drawn directly from what the research says keeps young people engaged in digital therapy.

  1. A guided programme

A structured, step-by-step course through evidence-based psychological techniques — knowledge first, then practice, at the user's own pace.

  2. Gamification & rewards

Completing modules and activities earns in-app currency that can be spent on in-app benefits and real-world rewards that support recovery.

  3. Activity tracking

Simple tracking of mood and activity makes progress visible and nudges users toward the habits that demonstrably protect against depression.
